    Asus M3n78 Pro Sound recognition

I am using onboard graphics with my Asus M3n78 Pro and I have gone to almost every site I could think of to look for drivers and tried to use them (The sound is by Realtek) but there is one problem, Windows is not even recognizing that I have onboard sound on my motherboard. I have no clue what to do, never had any problems like this, does anyone know what I have to do?

Important edit, I am running 64 bit and I had sound when I installed windows but for some reason it just stopped recognizing it. I have unpluged all of my fans and other stuff so It cant be a power issue.

    Hi.

Go into the bios and enable the onboard audio codec.

I went in and checked and it was, I have no clue why it wouldn't even know why it isn't there anymore. This is really confusing me.

Update to latest bios for two reasons.

    1) It's always good to do this anyhow.
    2) It will set all settings to default and that will have it enabled.

Still nothing, has anyone else had a problem with this board? I remember listening to iTunes the first day I had the OS installed, but for some reason it just doesn't recognize the audio anymore.

There is a download for the Windows 7 64 bit Realtek audio driver on Asus's website. I know you said you searched the internet for drivers, but have you tried downloading and installing the latest driver from that website? I'm getting ready to wipe out XP and do a full install of Windows 7. I'm hoping that I won't have any problems updating drivers.

So you did what torrentg suggested in post #4 and still no reconigtion. Google hasn't been my friend either. You wouldn't have a sound card you could borrow would you? Cause it sounds like a bad audio controller. I had one go bad on a DFI expert board. I don't know of anyway to get a system to reconize something it doesn't or stopped. Since the bios and chipset are up to date and their are no problem devices in device manager. I would try and borrow a addon sound card, and see it it can be installled. Any body else with any suggestions? Colud try this but http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...troubleshooter
