What sound card will work with Win7 64??

Ok, so I have that problem with the Creative cards where it doesn't play nice with my Nvidia chipset and Win 7 64. Horrible sound when it works at all, clicks and pops and crackles. But most of the time it doesn't work at all.

The sound card in question is the X-fi Platinum I believe, and my mobo is an Asus A8N Deluxe.

I have been totally unable to find any information on decent sound cards that WILL work given my equipment. I would like to find something that provides rich sound similar to the X-fi Platinum. It was great while it lasted. Now I can't even get the crappy onboard sound to work!

Help! I hate having no sound

Welcome to seven forums Pillowfight: Well you have a Nforce 4 board which in it's self is nice to know it is working well with seven. Pending on how much your willing to spend the Xonar sound card has had great reviews and claims to be windows seven ready. Pretty expensive though. And a PCI-e x1 which your board does support. Hopefully others will have more suggestions. The HT Omega "Striker 7.1" sound card will work on Win 7 and has drivers for both 32 bit and 64 bit OS'. It also has the "system mixer" for streaming audio recording (which many do not have).

Yeah, Win7 has transformed my old rig into a new machine...with a few minor glitches, like the sound card. I maxed out the RAM to 4GB and to be honest I'm not sure I've noticed a tremendous difference but it is a little faster. I am pretty happy with Win7 in general and am looking forward to learning more about it.

Anyway, I was thinking about the Asus Xonar D1 because several people mentioned it actually sounds BETTER than Creative's X-Fi...and I don't really want to drop $200 on a new card.

Thanks for the suggestions, very appreciated.

I do like my Xonar D2, it's been working with Windows 7 since jan. for me. I tried the Xfi and Azuntek prelude but the Xonar was the best so I kept it.
