Deleted my speakers, cannot get them back

While learning about changing the default playback devices I deleted my speakers (some dell, powered cheapos). I have tried reconnecting, rebooting all to no avail, they we not get redetected. I tried to "add a new device" in the devices and printers control panel but windows never finds any new devices.

Is there a way to manually re-add the speakers without going through the plug and play detection thing, which isnt getting it done?

Thanks in advance,

TR

win 7 home premium (32 bit), OS Version: 6.1.7600,

You could try a System restore to a date just prior to you deleting them.

If you don't have a restore point, try reloading the sound card driver

Thanks Skunk!!! Click click bang! Fixed, no reboots, no reloads, just turn them back on.

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage audio devices > right click in the window whitespace > Show Disabled Devices (my speakers then appear) > right click on speakers > click enable.

CHEERS!

Speaker Nightmare

I had a big problem
I've been using the Soundblaster PCIe Recon3D Fatality Champion for awhile now.
perfect sound and the Truestudio control panel is great.

But then the nightmare event happened.

Suddenly no sound with a windows popup message
"no speakers or headphones are plugged in"
Worst of all the Truestudio control panel was blank

NOT TRUE. Everything was attached fine and never had a problem before.
Went to the creative auto-update. That would not work.

So I went to creative .com, and downloaded the driver for my card manually.
As I type right now, the driver is taking time doing a Repair mode driver install.
