Windows 7: Sound Only From Front 2 speakers

Sound Only From Front 2 speakers

I have A Creative Inspire 5.1 hooked up to my Realtek sound on board via S/dif digital optical, have tried latest drivers, tried different settings, only 2 spekers work.

SOME Integrated Audio systems have a digital output but that output is only two channel stereo. As that is all you are getting it may be your sound is 5.1 surround in analog but not digital.

How do i figure this out, my system is a dual boot, in XP I get all 5 speakers.

Creative CD does come with a testing software to check whether the speakers are properly setup. Have you tried it? If that software is not available with you, I believe you can download it from creative.

Also had this problem, heres how I fixed it...
Driver used (SB24_VTDRV_LB_1_04_0090.exe) available from creative.
Install and when done go to Control panel, Manage audio devices.. This should display a sound window with devices listed, select SB live and in bottom left corner click configure. Should be pretty much self explanatory after that.
