That @#$%# IE and Windows Explorer Clicking Sound

Trying to rid myself once and for all of that horrible clicking sound that Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer make. I was told that I could delete the wav file called 'Windows Navigation Start' located at: C:\Windows\Media. However everytime I try to do so, Windows says I need permission from the TrustedInstaller. I am running under Admin and I've tried to change the permissions but I'm not allowed to do that either.

    Ash

BTW' I already went into Sounds and set it to none but it comes back sooner or later on its own as stated on other forums.

Just a guess, but, maybe if you utilize the secret administrator account you could make your change.

Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable[2]=User Accounts

You need to do the following: -

    Sounds - Change

Control Panel – Sound – Click Sound Tag – Select Sound Scheme – No Sound and

    “Save As Default” Click OK

Thanks guys! First time around I did the "Save As Default" but for some reason Windows kept reverting back after a while. Others had the same problem so I tried what was suggested on another forum; make the changes and then save them as a new profile and name that new profile. So far so good..........
