In "Programs and Features" / "Uninstall or change a program" I clicked on Change (my only choice) This opened up an ATI uninstall wizard. I Chose Express Uninstall All ATI related Software and drivers. And rebooted.

This did not solve my problem.

Hmm... Try going into Device Manager, right-clicking on your card, and selecting Update.

I right clicked on my computer from the start menu, from the drop down list I chose properties. On the system page I chose Device Manager. In device manager, I expanded Display Adapters. I right clicked on ATI Radeon HD 4800 series and chose properties. In the ATI Radeon 4800 Series Properties window I chose the Driver tab. From the Driver Tab I chose "Update Driver". From the Update Driver software window, I chose "Search automatically"

Results: Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.

This did not solve my problem.

There's only one thing it can be in my opinion.

A corrupted system registry, because I can think of no one single thing which would affect start up sound and screen resolution simultaneously...

    Hello Qdos,

Firstly I am impressed by the steps you took yourself.

    Check Windows integrity:
    Press start
    write cmd
right click and press run as administrator
    write
    sfc /scannow

it will scan your Windows files for integrity.

    2. I am thinking what will happen if boot into safe mode with basic drivers
    Maybe try it aswell?
