    Audio Question

So I just built an htpc and hooked it up to my 32 inch lcd tv. I have it hooked up through hdmi(best resolution by far when comparing to pc input). I then bought a pair of 2.1 speakers to hook up to the system as well. My plan was to hook them up to my headphone jack on the tv but I just realized I do not have a jack on the lcd. Now would I be able to hook the speakers up to the computer and have it play audio as well? I am concerned that once you plug in something via HDMI it only outputs both audio and video through that connection and no others. However I hope that is not the case. Thanks everyone.

That I cannot tell you as I don't have a HDMI interface on my system. Others will, and can probably give a better answer. But why don't you just try it and let everyone here know what happens?

In all cases I've seen (may not have seen them all :) ) you can't have both. You can have the HDMI or the PC's speakers.

I use my monitor and my LCD TV and I initially had to force it to output audio through my HDMI out, I would say you can choose your preferred output by going to control panel\sound and pick your PC soundcard as your device

Correct. As fireberd said you can only use one at a time, but you can choose which to use.
