Windows 7: sound stops

I have an HP Pavilian DV7 basic build config was with win vista I upgraded to Windows 7 ultimate.



My issue is every few days or each day just random my sound stops working all together, i click the lil "sound icon" next to the time and clock on the taskbar it shows that there is sound to be played but nothing comes live. I have to restart my PC and then it works, ive had this issue from day one.

Anyone know what may be causing this?

It could be a driver, or a 3rd party app that is interfering.
for driver check device manager (type device manager in search) go to the sound tab. Is your driver listed? does it have a yellow triangle on it? Are there any other "unknown" devices with yellow on them?

for a conflict app you can use msconfig to selectively turn off things that auto start

Hey, there are no yellow triangles anywhere... the 2nd tab is Computer "ACPI x64-based PC."

Well i'd do the msconfig but see i wouldn't know what to look for because my computer could be running with sound for hrs or days before it just stops so i don't think it would be a auto start program?
