Windows 7: audiodg.exe + Ventrilo problem

audiodg.exe + Ventrilo problem

I've searched around now on Google about audiodg.exe and found another guy that had the same problem, but noone told him how to fix it.

Whenever I push my speakbutton in Ventrilo, the memory audiodg.exe uses increases by about 0,5-2 mb. This does not ever stop, if I stop the process that's it, no sound. If I close Ventrilo nothing happens.

This explains why my computer eventually gets slowed down like hell and sometimes makes my sound disappear when playing games.

My soundcard is a Creative SB X-Fi, I've got the proper drivers.

Seriously, what is this process for and why is it buggy like hell?

From what I can see it can happen on any sound card, but primarily it happens on Creative cards. One of the workarounds until it gets fixed in a driver update (if it ever does) is to disable all enhancements,

Windows 7 x64, Ventrilo memory leak, audiodg.exe | Auzentech Community

when using something like Vent that triggers it.

Haha, oh wow. 9 months later and there's a hotfix!

Still waiting on that email so I can try it out. I've been using the "restart Audiosrv and CTAudSVCService" method for a few months now.

I'v downloaded that "hotfix", i did not solve the problem for me, everytime i use ventrilo, when i push the button the memory usage increases or when someone else talks.

Did the hot fix work for you?

And how do you do the restart of Audiosrv & CTAudSVCService ? heeelp

My solution was getting rid of the old computer and buying a new one.

Anyway, if you're stuck with that card you might want to open Task Manager, click the Services tab (I think it's called that? it's the third tab otherwise). Find said processes and right click them. Press stop. Right click again and click start.

CTAudSVCService needs to be stopped first. The more memory it's leaked the longer it will take. Should take about 1-4 seconds to stop it. If your memory usage is increasing hastily (the audiodg.exe increases memory usage) to such an extense you can't even browse internet, screw all methods and restart the computer.

The hotfix did nothing.
