cant fix sound distortion

hello, i have been looking around the inter-web-nets for about a week now, and i cant find anything that will fix the sound distortion problem im having.

i have an intel dp45sg board, q8200 quad core and integrated sound at the moment. i have installed/uninstalled/re-installed way to many different realtek/idt audio drivers and none of them fix the problem. every time i uninstall the sound from device manager and restart, the generic High Definition Audio Device gets re-installed.

if there is ANYONE that can help, this is driving me NUTS!!!

i had windows 7 rc and did a clean install of real windows 7 last week.

the oddest part about it is, it was working perfectly fine in RC, then i had to move my computer desk and everything (room flooded) and put in a different room and thats when it started, still in RC. i thought doing a clean install would fix it, but no fix.

If your room flooded, it is possible you have some damaged hardware. Either the sound card or speakers may need to be replaced. Try another set of speakers/headphones in your machine.

If they are distorted, try your sound card in another machine.

ha...i didnt even think of that /slap. i did try another set of speakers, same problem. as far as soundcard, its just the on-board card for now

i wouldnt think anything inside the case would be affected by the water, as it was on the hardwood beside the carpeted area. the wires were on the carpet, however, but everything else is working. ill try the headphones out, if i can find some.

Your motherboard might be messed up. If you have another sound card compatible with 7, try it. Otherwise, you may need to replace your MB.

I do not know of a way to test the MB. Perhaps the techs in the shop could, but you would probably be better off buying a new sound card and installing it in a PCI port.

I would look here. Just make sure it is compatible with Vista or 7.
