Could be some media player or game that is changing the Left "balance" level. Check the programs or games you are using to see if they have any options or controls for that function.

    Hi psydex,

What is the make and model number of your motherboard? It could be the audio driver that needs updating.

One thing that might help is to install the drivers for your sound card (if any are available), instead of running off of whatever default driver that Windows installed for it. From your screen shot the sound card is usually only listed like that when running off the default Windows driver.

If you're unsure as to what to look for; the make and model of the motherboard if using onboard sound, or the make and model of the sound card would help and we can point you in the right direction.

For the audio drivers (Realtek ALC888) you can find the download link here,

Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

For the video driver you can find it here,

    ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver

as far as this one goes if things are working as you like (Aero, etc), I would leave this one alone.

    Hi psydex,

Thanks for that. Here is a link to your motherboard website: ASRock > Products > 775Dual-VSTA

I've had a look at the specifications, and the audio codec is ALC888, which is a Realtek HD codec. Download and save to your HDD the latest driver from here: Realtek

Follow the instructions here to install the driver (this is the method I use): Device Manager - Install Driver - Vista Forums
