The Edirol is not a "surround sound" device. It has multiple channels, just like my Firewire Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 recording interface but it doesn't work like a regular PC sound card that will either take a surround sound and output it or will synthesize two channel stereo into surround sound. In fact, I can only use my firewire recording I/O device with my Sonar recording program, it won't work as a PC "sound card" or with other programs such as Band In A Box.
