old asus mobo can't detect sound with windows seven
this is my scenario...
i installed a fresh windows 7.
i'm using an onboard audio.
my motherboard is P5ND2-SLI.
obviously the sound wont work (i got the red X at the volume icon) without the latest windows 7 driver.
after i installed the latest driver (6.0.1.6305), the red X is no more (the driver is succesfully installed) but i still cant hear any sound even though the equalizer is moving when i play an mp3 or movies.
its a realtek ac'97 audio.
btw. im using a usb-powered speaker.
anybody have this kind of problem?
i also have 1 unknown device called SM Bus Controller.
i suspect its my firewire standalone device. i have no driver for that so i just let it be.
i didnt use it anymore anyway.
thanks in advance for your assistance.
p/s: this is where i downloaded my driver
