I'm still having problems with 7 and the Blaster Live! and X-Fi Xtreme Audio. I tried both of my cards and I keep getting the BSOD halfway through the install. Tried the compatability with xp and old driver and tried the updated driver with the Vista compatability. I think my onboard card might be fighting with it somehow but every attempt ends with the BSOD and I have to restart and run the file recovery program which puts me back about 4 hours. My computer is lonely without sound.

PROBLEM SOLVED with SB Live series

    Hello All,

After having all the problems with my SB Live! 5.1 card I got a tip from another forum. You will need the KX project driver Official kX Project Site -- News. All problems solved with the Audio. Only it ask everytime at startup that it cannot initialize driver. This has to due with the Kx Mixer. You can disable the startup of the mixer using MSconfig.

Hope you will all enjoy the sound again. Mine works like a charm now.

    Regards Paul

No problems for me with my XFi Xtrememusic.

Make sure you install the latest Windows 7 drivers from Creative or better still use the Daniel_K XFi Support Pack. You can find these on the soundblaster forums at the Creative website.

I have a Sound Blaster card and had the same issue. My resolution was so easy it took me forever to think of it. Try this: Go to the volume control on the taskbar, right click and select playback devices. Then you find your card and set it to default. Click apply and you should be all set. You may also want to configure it as well (you get to this from the screen you chose the default). You can test the sound in the configuration screen.

After many hours attempting to get my SoundBlaster live! 5.1 Dell installed card to work, I finally figured out how.
I tried many different drivers from many sources including: Dell, Microsoft, Creative Labs and various other forums.
    1) Windows 7 did not recognize the audio device installed.
    2) All the drivers I tried to install were all digitally signed and were not compatible (due to unrecognized device).
    3) Since Windows didn't recognize the device, creative wouldn't recognize it either and therefore wouldn't allow install of any driver software through the autorun or auto extraction.

Simple solution was to explore the original SoundBlaster CD that came with the PC and to the Audio folder, then to Drivers, then double click the application file "ctsetup".
It auto ran from that point and worked perfect.

Hope it works for you also.

    Good luck!
