Can't seem to get audio

I'm running Windows 7 Pro. Can't seem to get the audio to work. Keep getting "Audio Switcher Out" message when I click on a video file. Tried Troubleshooting and it keeps say headphones, etc., not connected which they are. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.
