    Problem with LINE-IN settings

    Hello,
I've got serious problem with my sound from line-in input - I cant hear anything (when I plug a microphone, guitar or any music player). Strange thing is that I can record this sound, but I dont have any playback of it. I use Dell Studio 1555 laptop with Windows 7.

When I go to Control Panel->Sounds->Recording the sound is hearable for a few seconds and then stops again.
Its really annoying, but now my computer is really useless, especially if I need to record some music from external instument.

Did anyone have similar problem, and how to solve it?

    thx,
    m

Here is something you can try. I do my recording with an external Soundcard so I'm not really sure about this.

Rt. click your speaker icon. Select "Playback Devices". Double click on Speakers, then select the levels tab. You should see two volume sliders. Try increasing the slider on the bottom.

    thanks. I will try it.
But I think that problem is somewhere else, cause I hear my external device quite well but for a few seconds, then it mutes for some reason..
