Hello everyone, today I purchased Windows 7 with the hopes that installation would be smooth and quick.... but fate hates me. I successfully made it through the Windows 7 installation page, but when the system rebooted and came to the "Starting Windows" screen, it froze! From here, I spent hours searching for information and playing around in BIOS, and finally, after hours of frusturating tinkering with my system, I got it to work!! I later found that it worked because I turned off the "integrated audio" option in my BIOS, but now if I turn it back on, Windows 7 crashes again... what can I do to fix this? Because Windows 7 isn't very fun without sound.

Thanks

Im getting the exact same problem. I also have a Creative SB Audigy and the same problem happens as with the onboard sound, it will freeze for about 10 to 15 minutes and then 'sort' itself out but then freeze again about 20 senconds later. I've tried unistalling drivers and getting the manufacturers drivers both vista and XP and trying them in compatibility mode but no luck. Everywhere i have looked no ones had a solution so it seems like windows 7 is of no use as it is and will probably have to go back to XP :(

Good to hear its not only me, but I absolutely refuse to go back to Windows XP!! Considering that I don't have the original installation disk or the Administrator's password for my computer... PLEASE! SOMEBODY HELP!!!

Update:

Last month, I took my computer to a PC Repair Shop at my school (it was free) and we found a fix for the problem. I simply had to go buy a new sound card and stop using the motherboard's integrated audio. (I also had to leave it turned off in the BIOS) Since then, Windows 7 and the audio card have worked like a dream. I am very happy that I was able to find such an easy fix!

I hope this helps all of those people who might be having a similar problem.:D

Thanks
