No sound just static after Windows 7 clean install

    Downloaded and installed the Vista 64 drivers from Acer in compatibility mode (I tried without compatibility mode but got a message that no driver package was supported). Upon restart, still getting the red X on my volume control with "No audio output device" message.

    Wow.... we just keep banging our head against a wall dont we?

    Hmmm I did a little searching myself on this soundcard... the Vista drivers should have worked.

    Did you try these drivers here at Realtek: Realtek

    I'd go for the driver only version (5th one down) .exe version and run in compatibility mode...
