Windows 7: Low volume windows 7

Low volume windows 7

I have recently upgraded my OS from XP to windows 7 64bit, and upon doing so the volume will not go loud at all.

I have searched and tried just about every way I could find. I downloaded the R2.42 drivers from realtek and no use, it is still too quiet. I have tried installing older versions after uninstalling the drivers already in and they have not helped.

In the communications tab of sound options I have it set so "Do Nothing". And if I check Loudness Equalization under Enhancements it does not help either.

The only way I can get my volume anywhere decent is if I turn my systems sound to 100%, and if i'm using youtube for example turning the volume on their to full as well.
While when I had XP I could have the volume set to around 50% and the slider bar on youtube to around 20% and it was way louder than what I can get out of windows 7.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks in advance

I just tried setting it to DvD quality like you suggested, but to no avail it is still quiet.

Is there any specific driver # from Realtek I should try that works with Windows 7?

Strange isn't it... XP definitely had/has more volume with the same audio device.

Going back the the enhancements tab, you can do a manual adjustment of the eq raising each frequency level up 20-30% This will give you more volume.

Also, check the device manager... if you have both the Realtek HD Audio -and-
and plain High Definition Audio Device. Disable the plain "High Definition Audio Device" leaving only the Realtek HD Device active.

Win-7 has more OS layers in the audio path... from the looks of things it seems to be causing a lot of problems. I'm hoping SP1 will fix some things.

I checked Device Manager and only Realtek HD Device was there.

I just tried manually adjusting the equalizer and it helped to boost it. Ill have to play around with different settings and see if I cant get it close to how it was with XP.

Thanks for helping me to improve it by a good margin.
