Windows 7: SB Audigy 2 mic not working in Win7 64bit

Mic not recording.
I have Windows 7 64bit installed with an SB Augigy 2 sound card. All worked just fine under winxp 32bit and with win 7 64bit evaluation copy.
I cannot get my mic to record sound from the "line in 2/mic in 2" or mic port on the sound card itself.
I plug my mic in and hear very clear sound through the speakers, but no record.
I have set "line in 2/ mic in 2" as default ajusted all setting that I know of to point to "line in 2/ mic in 2", but still no record.
I have unistalled and reinstalled sound card drivers, used the windows drivers and used the Creative beta drivers also and nothing seems to work.
I enable on board audio and the mic records with the on board audio, I don't want to use on board audio.
I know the sound card works, worked just fine in winxp.
Anyone that has come across this problem.
I have a feeling I am just missing something.
