    No sound

My sound stopped coming through my monitor or it is really low, but I can hear it if I plug my headphones in to the audio jack. It cannot be the monitor as it works on my ps3 through HDMI.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the latest realtek driver (R 2.43), removed the other sound card but still nothing comes through.

I tried troubleshooting but it couldn't start.

I have absolutely zero experience with this.... , have you tried selecting one or the other of the Digital outputs as default?

If you right click in the blank area of the "Sound" window you can choose to show disabled devices and show disconnected devices, that open up any options?

I tried selecting the others as default but still didn't work and I already have disabled/disconnected devices showing (none pop up).

And you had sound before with this -exact- same setup, nothing has changed?

The only recent change is changing from VGA to HDMI and removing an external storage (ipod optimized for performance) without safely removing it.
Also, the stereo mix never showed before, but that may be because I updated the drivers.

Edit: I restarted again and it worked this time. I think it said the audio service wasn't running.
