Microphone producing buzzing/static

hi all.

Im recently having problems with my microphone making a lovely static/ buzzing sound. I use ventrilo and was alerted to it by some angry guildmates, and when i made it so I can hear my own microphone I can hear it myself.

I have updated to the latest VIA audio drivers from Asus and have tried removing them/using windows defaults and Im still having the same problems. Ie im sure its a hardware issue.

I have tried a different microphone, and I have tried both microphones in both the front/back ports but Im still getting it.

I heard updating my chipset could fix this but this hasnt worked either and Im getting slowly more and more frustrated with this. Someone did suggest to me its a grounding loop issue but I really dont have the foggiest what this is or what to do about it.

thanks in advance, prza

Hi Prza,

Have a read through this resource and see if it helps: Tips for fixing common sound problems. Toward the end of the page is a link to the Microsoft Support site which may help you as well...

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Cheers,

Is the static, buzzing something new, did it work fine before?

Did the mic cord get pulled or yanked? If so it may have broken the shielding in the wire.

If not that, have you disabled all audio enhancements? On both Input and Output?

Im not sure if its new,im fairly sure it is. Like i said in my OP it isnt the microphone as I have checked multiple mics over multiple PCs. All audio enhancements are disabled etc

Still needing assistance

If it is a grounding or ground loop issue, (which I doubt)

I'm not sure of the power supply/requirements in your country.
What do your power connectors (in the wall sockets) look like.
Two or three prong?

Do they make three to two prong adapters so you're not using the "earth pin" Probably not allowed looking at the socket/plug construction.
