Mic volume way too low! Help :(

Just upgraded to Windows 7 and now my mic volume is so low I have to struggle to hear anything I personally record (with windows "sound recorder").

The volume is turned up to max (100) in the levels tab, I don't go up beyond +10 microphone boost because I sound distorted and robo-like.

In the advanced tab for the microphone I have the "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" unchecked.

In the communications tab of the sound control, I have "do nothing" selected. (accessible by selecting "volume mixer" then selecting "system sounds")

Can anyone help me out with this? The only way I can hear anything is if I turn my headphones up to max, and even then it's slightly over a whisper. I know it's not my headset/mic as it worked perfectly fine in Vista, and it works as it should on other computers. I'm out of ideas as to what I can do to remedy this issue, can anyone help?

    Hi,

You'll have to post what exact sound card, or onboard sound you are using so the users can help you out. And preferably, the rest of your system specifications.
