I recently bought (3-4 months ago) a fx-6802 desktop and a sennheiser pc 31 headset to play videos games and stuff.
Everything was working quite fine until 2 hours ago.
My headset mic stopped working all of a sudden. So I searched google for everything that could help me. Did like 4567 modifications witht he realtek drivers.
Uninstalled and re-installed all realtek drivers, but no results.
Any help is appreciated obviously
Since it was working fine since then, could it be that my headset is broken ( It's relatively new)
I can still hear sounds pretty well with my headset but mic stopped working all of a sudden.
The first step when something is working and then doesn't work, such as this, is to use the System Restore function and restore the PC back to a date when it did work. That solves many problems. System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. Give it a try.

Did you try double check wires conection [unplug and plug again] Sometimes happen the conector doesn't sit well or some dust can disturb good contact. Is it USB? I don't realy know this head set but for USB should be procedure: Installed drivers before plug the device to PC. Could help
Did you try another headset? A headset from an iPod or something similar will also work on a PC. It will tell you if it's the headset or something in the PC.

Do you have a plastic speaker volume clip about 1/4 of the way down your headphones?
I have a set of Sennheiser PC 151 and the first time I got them I got really angry about the mic only to find that the volume control also has a mute mic slider and it can get muted quite easily.
I'm assuming you have your mic plugged into a mic in port and not a line in port, that's a common mistake.
Nothing; including the microphone works. This just happened after one day of usage - it sounded great for the money. Now nothing. A return is looming, I fear.
Conversely, my Microsoft USB headset (that my IT guy ordered to circumvent any possible MS & Win 7 x64 driver issues) did not work initially as the other (Seinhesser) was working. Now, the MS headset works great AND the wonderful and light seinhesser PC31 is kaput!!!
