    intermittant audio hp dv6915nr

this problem only started after i installed windows 7. first tried 64bit, went to 32bit and the problem still exists.

occasionally the sound stops working and a restart of an application will suffice. often though, the device seems to simply disappear and reppear after complete power offs.

device is Conextant High Definition Smart Audio 221

I've tried installing the most recent drivers, reinstall of windows, etc. I'm at wits end. I've heard ramblings of an actual hardware wiring problem within the system but if that were the case why doesn't this happen in Vista?

Is there any motherboard chipset drivers for this? If there are, install (or reinstall if you have installed them) the chipset drivers and see if that helps.

i have the latest chipset drivers installed and it did not fix the problem.

i've done quite a bit of research and apparently this is a problem well-known for this model.

i'll likely be purchasing a usb sound card for the system and use external speakers.
