    realtek only allowing digital output

my sound stopped working randomly a few days ago, where windows would detect that the device is there, but the realtek sound manager only allows digital output. same with windows mixer.

i've uninstalled and reinstalled a slew of realtek drivers (r1.90, 2.14, 2.16, 2.22), with varying results, but basically the same thing: the rear panel is not enabled or something along those lines. i currently have the r2.22 drivers installed, and all that it allows me to use is the digital output. i am completely at a loss here. not sure if it matters but i have an abit I-N73HD motherboard.

update: i just tried the drivers from the CD for my mobo (r1.73) with no luck, the same problem occurs.

i am wondering if maybe the problem is a physical one, but i am unsure if the ports were blown that the sound device would detect at all, or that the motherboard would be have more problems because of some type of shortage/over voltage that occured.

Same here. No solution at all. But headphones output and mic input works fine in newest Ubuntu Live CD. But only those 2 jacks. What happens if you check off 'Disable front panel jack detection' ? Does front mic show up?

    Hello,

Have you try to look in the folder just upon the back panel as seen in your capture screen ? I think you can switch between the headphones or the speakers, or both. I just saw that very quickly when my friend show me his windows seven beta so i'm not sure that it's where he changed it.

Do you have your virus protection or download managers running during the install of the drivers? That could create problems like these. Just a suggestion. It looks like the drivers just are not installing right to me.

I turned off Windows Defender, uninstalled drivers, restarted pc, installed drivers. It doesn't help.
