    Windows 7 No sounds

okay i had just installed windows 7 Ultimate x86

i have no sound, so i done the Usual updates and finally did get sound only in game applications such as world of warcraft and Mass effect 2 ( although it only plays sound files not music).

no other sound works, no youtube, no system sounds, no windows media player 12, no sounds through facebook..

i've tried downloading updated codec's, driver's and im at the end of my rope getting pretty Frusterated

Have you selected the default sound device yet?

Right click MS speaker icon in the system tray.
    Select Playback Devices.
Select "Speaker" and then click the "Set Default" button.

Also make sure the system is set to Stereo Output, not 5.1 or one of the other sound options.

After you select "Speakers" there are two other button selections, Configure and Properties. use them.
