Win 7 HDMI - Headphones not working in parallell Thanx, Ive got a toshiba A500 lappy and what im having trouble with is, i have the HDMI running to my LCD Bravia which then runs the sound for my pc through a stereo amp/ receiver 5.1 unit, which is fine, but, i also want to run a second sound system through the head phones input, i can plug the unit into the head phones jack and pc speakers work fine at the same time, but then i plug in HDMI and it cuts the speakers and only runs whats pluged into the HDMI......how do i get them all to work in harmony? if the speakers and the phone jack can share then whys the HDMI not playing along/?? I hope someone out here can help me out, Cheer! | My System Specs |

Hello S1dwys, welcome to the Seven Forums.
I'm afraid what you want to achieve is not possible. To get audio output to speakers and headphones simultaneously is possible because they are using the same audio device. When you switch to HDMI audio device, it disables the other audio device and vice versa; it's possible to use only one audio device at a time.

Thank you for the quick response, but in that theory then, when i plug my logitech 2.1 into the phones jack it should cut off to the onboard speakers aswell shouldnt it?
Or does the HDMI input have a seperate setup? are you sure there is no way around this? when you look at the list of devices it has
1 Sony TV
2 speaker with a primary tick, and the other has a green phone? saying ready for comunication......i dont want anything about this comunication thing, cant i disable the phone thing and make it secondary output?
I just figured its all trying to play the same piece of media so why cant it become a secondary?
I'd understand if i was trying to play 2 different medias through at the same time, but its all the same thing......
I have no idea, but in my head thats just silly really? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number toshiba OS win 7 CPU 2.2 Memory 4Gb |

You have two separate audio devices, HDMI audio and either onboard audio or a sound card. Audio output is possible to only one device at any given time.
Read this: Is it possible to enable two sound devices simultaneously?
