    Sound or Ramm

I can have sound or RAMM, not both. Anyway, it's the whole Sound Blaster thingie. I just upgraded to W7 64 bit. The graphics with my twin 8800 GTX cards are the best ever. But, of course, the problem is that I also upgraded my Ramm from 4 GB to 8 GB. After reading all of the forums here and other places, I tried going back to 4 GB and still I get static, and little else. Only by going back to 2 GB do I get my sound back. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of upgrading. I've tried all of the current SB drivers and such.

So, what are my best options? Should I just wait and see if SB gets any kind of decent drivers ( any news of that in the pipeline anywhere? ). Should I try the daniel K drivers ( I'm leary of doing this simply because I hate to go through all of that and then not have it work for me anyway ). Or, should I just go ahead and invest in another sound card, other than SB. If the last option what are some good cards to try, I have noticed that some people have tried other cards to no avail.

I remember the time when I first got my current PC and it had Vista on it. I had oodles of problems with the graphics until Nvidia came out with the ( I think ) 163.20 drivers and all of my problems ... just ... went away. Well, here we go again, this time I have to wait for SB to make some decent drivers. If I have to wait 6 months again this time I guess I'll just go back to Vista for a while ... woof ... never thought I'd have to do that. I really hate to do that because the graphics are SO nice now.

I've also read about the Sound Blaster drivers for the 64 bit version of Windows 7 being a real pain in the butt. Are you mostly an online gamer? If so, have you ever considered getting a USB headset? The sound is pretty decent and you won't have to worry about the drivers. In fact, Creative makes a few nice ones, take a look here:

Newegg.com - Creative Fatal1ty Gaming USB Headset - Smaller Box

Hope that helps. That way you can still use Windows 7... :)
