Windows 7: Headphones as playback device.

Headphones as playback device.

Well...I'm having this problem with a few of my games - Counter Strike Source and Half Life 2 Deathmatch. The problem is that whenever I try to change the Speaker Configuration to Headphones, it always reverts back to 7.1 Speakers after I go back in the options to check.

This seems to be related to my Windows sound settings since whenever I change my Speakers Configuration in the Sound window to like Stereo or Quadraphonic or 5.1 or 7.1 Surround, the option the games change respectively to 2 Speakrs, 4.1, 5.1, 7,1 Speakrs.

I don't think that the 2 things should be related meaning I should be able to change my option in game to whatever I want despite what I've chosen in the Windows settings.

Now, since I don't think there is a way to make my game not know what I've set the windows audio settings to, I need to find a way to get my headphones recognized by the OS and have "Headphones" instead of "Speakers". Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that. I've tried to look for a guide or figure it out myself but with no luck.

This is what I can see in the Sound Options:
I think I've seen while I was looking for a way to fix this, that other people have the "headphones" in their Sound playback tab, but I don't...

If you have a specific headphones port on your sound card/motherboard, try using that. Often times with onboard sound, you'll have a set of ports on the back and then a set of ports on the front. The front ports are usually set to headphones.

Also, try updating your drivers if you haven't already.

I've plugged the headphones in the jack for the Line-In aka place where the headphones go. Driver is also up to date. And I am using a sound card which is Razer Barracuda AC-1.
And I have not even plugged my front sound ports (sound jacks on the case) and I've totally disabled my motherboard sound. The only way I get sound is my sound card.

I remember that I used to be able to change the option in my games suddenly I can't.
