No USB Audio windows 7 x64

I recently purchased a new PC and I am lacking USB audio on my Razer Megaladon headset. I updated the firmware and the weird thing is that the microphone works but no audio at all. When i try to test the sound I get a "failed to play test tone" error. The device is set as default. And worked previously on my old PC. This seems to be a fairly common problem but I could not find any solutions so I decided to post here. Any help would be appreciated.

and also to add this seems to just be a 64bit windows 7 problem. As the previous system that i was using these headphones on was 32bit windows 7. I upgraded the firmware on the device for a 64 bit OS

Thanks for posting back with the answer, mvedda! Where did you find/How did you figure out that solution?

I was going to suggest disabling all sound effects as (generally speaking) USB headsets don't natively support those kind of enhancements and if they're enabled by default, you hear nothing.

I'm curious as to the fix.

Well in the end its more of an issue with having a new prebuilt PC that I have yet to crack open to see how they have everything wired up.
But after spending hours searching on google I noticed that some of the issues with this particular headset were solved by using a self powered USB hub. All of the stores were closed or I would have done this but I ended up fixing it by simply connecting the headset to a USB port on the front of the PC near the memory card slots.
I started by unplugging my keyboard when everything was connected to the back of the PC and to my surprise the headset started working perfectly. But after I plugged the keyboard back in they stopped working again. I then unplugged my mouse and got the same results. So i moved the connection for the headset to the front of the PC. And everything started to work. Turns out it was a hardware issue and not a OS issue at all.

Probably just as simple as a driver. Go to the mfr and find the correct driver and install it.

Well mvedda already solved the issue... and it sounds from the description like there was insufficient USB power to support mouse, keyboard, and headphones... but the self-powered USB hub gave him enough extra juice... I think...
