Help!!!
I've tried both:

Creative Worldwide Support > PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio

Filename: XFXA_PCDRV_LB_1_04_0000.exe

and:
SB P17X Series Support Pack 2.0 (07/31/2009) - Aud... - Creative Labs

Both give this message :

''Setup is unable to detect a supported a supported product on your system''

In both cases it seems they are for X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express.Maybe mine is the not the PCI Express version???

The INF is different for the PCI version from the version for the PCI-E cards. Not sure what if any difference there is in the actual driver (haven't downloaded to look), but the DevID's are different between the two, and that is one reason for the separate drivers.

About the only way the Daniel_K driver won't work with your card is if it is an OEM version that came with a Dell/HP/etc, and has a DevID that isn't included in the driver INF.

Tthe following procedure MAY or MAY NOT apply to any given situation.

A driver installation can be forced. It requires a folder where the driver files have been extracted.

From Device Manager, select the appropriate device. Update or Install driver.

Navigate to the appropriate folder, select an INF file and install. Respond to the following pop-ups as required.

This is different from just running a setup.exe.

The singular exception is the dialog box that says, more or less, "This file does not contain any drivers fo your device"

Are you sure its a X-Fi Xtreme Audio card and not another similar model like Xtreme Music?

I used one from Creative Labs site and it loaded up fine. It just doesn't have the flashy pull down window like in Vista or in regular Windows. Try these it may help you guys out.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I, too, have an issue with this card (X Audio).

Things were going along just fine until roughly the time I installed a Sapphire radeon HD4650 to my 7 RC x64 install. Since then, I'm getting clicks and pops from the X-Fi's output when browsing, and at no other time. For instance, when loading this page, my audio clicks/stutters momentarily until the page is loaded.

What I've done: Disable all audio sources, including the HDMI from the GPU. Confirmed that audio was configured correctly in control panel (e.g., stereo vs. 5.1). Restarted. Looked for updated drivers at Creative's site. Ditto with the graphics card, which I installed.

Do you guys know of any known flaws/conflicts with the X-Audio and certain graphics cards that may be the culprit? I'm short of ideas and haven't actually confirmed that the card's install was the beginning of the click/pop, though it likely is. I have this EXACT issue before, with a different Creative model and onboard vid on a completely different rig. Sold it before I truly fixed it. Insight is greatly appreciated!

/btw, reducing the settings from 24 bit/96 to 16/44.1 reduces, but does not eliminate the issue.

EDIT - it occurs to me that this isn't the most appropriate place for the question, as the card was running just fine on 7 using Creative's own driver, prior to a non-7 related change that I made. I'm sorry!

Okay, I figured it out. I'm still using a low power supply from a pre-built Dell. Though the graphics card is widely known to function just great with the typically weaker PSUs in retail models, I still needed to dip the settings a bit. That seems to have alleviated the load for both cards to function well together. Am currently @newegg looking at PSUs (damn).

Please note that this may not solve your issue, but that it is a place to start looking should you Googlers be experiencing a similar prob. If you're on a store-bought unit and running other expansion cards, it's a possible culprit.
