Please help me set up SPDIF

I bought a HDMI screen with built in speakers but the sound doesn't work and I was told I must plug in the wire on my graphics card and then plug that into spdif on my mother board I did it but there is still no sound what must I still do. He said I must enable it in the BIOS but where is that?

Are you using the onboard sound or a sound card? Do you have it set to use SPDIF as the default audio device? How are you connecting to the monitor (DVI-HDMI cable, DVI-HDI adapter with a HDMI cable)?

What you have listed in your specs doesn't make much sense. Would also help if you listed the model number of the motherboard.

okay I do not use a sound card I use onboard and I have the monitor connected with a HDMI cable, and the motherboard is GA-G31M-ES2L/GA-G31M-ES2C. and I have set the spdif as default adio device and I can see the bars moving up and down as the sound goes but the sound doesn't come out the speakers, so what could the problem then be?

You may have the connector on the motherboard reversed, try flipping it around (pin 1-2 to pin 2-1).

Also is it set to SPDIF passthrough in the Realtek control panel?

I have done it as the manual said pin 1 is red wire and pin 3 is GND I tried it that way and I tried it pin 1-2, but still no sound
