Fresh Build No Sound

Hello Fourm,

I upgraded my pc today from IDE to SATA and added 3 GB more RAM and 500 GB HD, After a build of the o/s I went into the device manager and found i only needed 1 driver (nice one microsoft), anyway i dug out my MSI drivers CD and ran it in compatability mode as you do, Installed the driver for the sound and after a restart windows does say the device is working properly.
I can see in the volume control panel whilst i play music the green bar is jumping but i am having no audio output. The speakers are plugged into the correct port, they are switched on and volume is not muted but still i get no audio output.
I tried updating the audio drivers, but they are up-to-date, I tried my headphones incase it was an external fault with the speakers but is isnt.

Im starting to think it might be a board fault that might of happened when i changed the housing or something that i might of did wrong in the bios when i over clocked it a little, maybe disabled something.

If anyone has any ideas or knows the answer to this riddle please post me.

Is the sound card/on board sound switched on in the BIOS? I know this sounds REALLY obvious, but its amazing how often its overlooked

Personally I would try and load these drivers

Realtek ALC Series Win7 Drivers

If this doesn't resolve the issue try and update your MB bios (but be careful and follow the directions carefully)

I might buy a sound card tomorrow, im starting to think its the audio port, none of the capacitors around there have gone so im thinking that must be the problem.

Up to you pal but I wouldn't be to hasty, I've seen loads of posts with "Realtek sound issues" that have been resolved... maybe just hang about a bit, you never know someone might have a solution before you go spending your hard earned cash on a new card. ;)

Turn off Enhancements!

Select the Default device (speakers) then select the Properties button... for now, turn off all sound effects.

Also, make external speakers are plugged into the light green jack in the back of the computer.

Also... back to selecting the Default device, there's a configure button on the bottom left, make sure you're set to stereo sound.

I resolved the problem, I plugged in the front pannel audio ports to the M/board, i forgot that previously i had jumpers on the pannel on the M/board, I unplugged the connector and put the jumpers back in and i now have sound again.

Thanks everyone for attempting to solve my problem.

Rock and Roll.
