Trie installing 2 types of audigy updates, still no sound
So this is what has been happening. I have apparently getting some BSOD because of what is believed to be my sound driver. I have a Creative SB Audigy 2ZS (WDM) on Windows 7 (if more information is needed then feel free to ask).
So I went through a series of driver updates yesterday with the help of a techie, and in the end I have no sound. I would like sound on my computer
Here's what was done:
I went to this site to download the support pack for my video card UNOFFICIAL SB Audigy Series Support Pack 3.8 (04/19/2010) - Creative Labs
Unistalled the driver a replaced it with this one using the setup it provided.
At this point I did not have any sound, so I tried some other things.
Found the Hardware Ids under the details tab under manage computer and got this:
I went to the Microsoft Update Catalog found Microsoft Update Catalog for my driver and downloaded the Windows 7 one, got WinRAR to extract the cabinet files.Code:PCI/VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20041102&REV_04 PCI/VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20041102 PCI/VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_040100 PCI/VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_0401
Used Driver Sweeper to clean the files from the Creative folder in program files.
Went to my sound controller on computer management, right clicked, update driver, choose file from computer, and selected the folder where the extracted files were found and updated successfully.
I still have no sound on this point, maybe there was something I did wrong but if there was a way to redo this without having to buy a new sound driver that would be so helpful.
I was redirected to ask Stormy this question, any help would be very much appreciated.
