Are you close to a radio station's transmitter site and antenna? That sounds like "RFI" (Radio Frequency Interference" getting into your speaker system.

When you get it, unplug the speakers from the PC but leave them powered on and the volume up and see if you still get it. If you do it's RFI and the speaker system is picking it up or it's coming through the AC power line to the speakers. If this just started I would suspect either a bad cable ground or just a dirty plug connection somewhere in the system.

EDIT:

Does Firefox have a plugin named "Cool Previews" running, if so, disable it.

If not Firefox it could possibly be a virus.

Looks like malware or virus of some type, run a Google search on: unwanted music playing

From the couple of sites I looked at it seems to run from a non-windowed iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer) streaming music and ads.

strange....

Hi there

Check that there's no hidden popup (??? contradiction in terms but you know what I mean !!) or any browser session running.

Sometimes some sites open up other commercial sites -- gambling or Stock trading sites come to mind which play multi-media too.

If this stuff doesn't go away I should re-install W7 again from scratch as there's something buried into the system. I actually never trust cleansing software anyway - I'd always restore from a CLEAN backup image -- and if I don't have one of those then I'd re-install.

Did you download the music / audio book from a Torrent site -- this can sometimes happen when content is obtained from those sources.

Cheers

Odd distortion while playing music in any music player on Win 7 PC
I am not sure if the title accurately tells what my issue is. I hope I can explain it. When listening to music on my PC, it does not matter if I use Winamp, Songbird, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, or any other software. Every so often, there appears some sort of distortion, like the drive...

No dialogue in videos, just the background music
I've had this issue for a couple of days now. It probably happened when I tried to make a very short backwards jump in VLC (shift + left arrow) and my fingers slipped and I hit something else. Now, no dialogue in any of the videos, just the background music. Audio options seem okay in VLC, and I...

Have fun playing a music video as desktop background
This is not a "must have", but it is a lot of fun. You can play a video as desktop background which is especially nice if it is a music video. For that you need VLC. If you do not have it yet, you can install it from e.g. here ( Download VLC Media Player 1.1.2 - FileHippo.com ). And here are the...

Music/video played as background won't keep playing
Running Win 7 64 bit on a home built machine. When I play AV from the Internet, e.g. radio or a HULU TV show, or play a DVD video, the player runs about 5-10 minutes and then stalls. I have to wiggle my mouse to restart. I though it was connected to my screen saver, so I reset it to none. Then...
