Volume level continuously changes

I have been monitoring my sound sliders and mine don't actually change even though my sound does. So unlike the video posted above my sound just gets quiet without the slider actually moving (that I can tell). It also seems to do this randomly because I can go days with never noticing it and then for 1-2 days it happens constantly. Like I said in the OP it happens when I'm gaming and other times watching random Internet videos. As an example of how random it is I noticed that it happened at the beginning of this video so I started the video over to see if it would happen at the same spot of the video (at the beginning)..but it didn't happen at all the second time I watched it. This is VERY frustrating!

On my behalf thanks for the answers. I've done all that has been suggested and now we wait. Yesterday went without problems, but as cpro stated the problem may sometimes stay away a few days. I've noticed that usually the volume only goes down (like 9 times from 10) but sometimes it first goes down and the up and so on.. And my volume slider(s) really moves. If this happens and I go and lift the slider up again it might stay there a few minutes and then it comes down again. Or it might stay there a few days. I haven't been able to find any one situation that could be reproduced so that volume would always do the same. So again, same situation as cpro had. Bill2 posted a link that had some good advices. I actually first had the Realtek Manager installed and I also tried disabling the front jack detection, but that didin't help.

So in my case the "fixes" that didn't help are:
-Disabling Voice recognition,
-Telephone call - Do nothing,
-Disable all enhancements,
-Disable Realtek front jack detection,
-uninstall all third party programs and drivers,
-install newest third party drivers

Some mixes of the above might do the trick but there's quite many different choises..

Small update on the situation. Volume has been still for the past 2-3 days so it's looking good for me. We'll see..

Volume has been "stable" for about 3 weeks now so I guess the problem is solved at my part. Sadly I cannot say what did the trick exactly but the answer is in this thread. Thanks for the answers and good look for everyone else with this problem.

Mine comes and goes. I sometimes think it's gone and then a week or two later it returns. Very frustrating.

Regardless of what I'm doing my volume level continuously changes. It's too loud..then too quiet. Sometimes it's fine for long periods then other times it changes every 5-10 seconds. I have tried putting the setting in the sound communications tab to "do nothing" and have also disabled all sound effects in the speaker properties to eliminate that loudness equalization option but nothing has worked. This also happens in a wide variety of programs so I doubt this is an application problem. It happens in several games, it happens watching Youtube videos and happens randomly with any number of websites with sound. It goes so quiet I can't hear so I turn it up..then 10 seconds later the volume goes back to where it was and blasts my eardrums out. I can't keep the volume at a steady level and it's DRIVING ME INSANE! Hlep!

BTW, I'm using W7 64 bit with onboard Realtek HD sound. I should also have all updated drivers as far as I know. Anyone have any info on this?

i found a fix that works for mine, i clicked on my speaker and in the pop up volume control i clicked the speaker and Speakers/Headphones Properties and under the Enhancements tab i checked Bass Booster And Loudness Equalization and it has been working great so far. i literally got this computer 6 hours ago and had the problem and about 5 minutes ago i did that out of curiousity, it worked
