    Hi Borwitz,

That's bad news. I used the driver for Striker 7.1 Vista 32/64. I think the same as Ajulian mentioned out. Then the Xear3d worked for me, but still no sound. Then I used the drivers for my own card. This is the thing that got everything running. The drivers were installed, but it didn't update de Xear3D software. I did get the options for my card. I really hoped this would work for all C-Media chipsets. Let us know if it works for you.

i got a terratec aureon 5.1 pci also with the c-media chip on board.
my sys is an x86 64bit win7 core 2 quad
tried 3 days to activate the spdif .. also tried your hints about the striker card...
nothing worked always teh system freeze if i ttried to start the soft from the tray

    now i found this page
    cmediadrivers - Google Code

it's for all cards with the c-media 8738/8768 chipset!!

installed it and now i don't need the soft becaus spdif is activated and you can also playback dts/dolby bitstream!!!! WOW

... was hard work 4 me to find a solution ..

Ok, I could install it, test it so the 5 speakers to work, but when I play music in windows media player, only 2 of the speakers work actually... I already set the default sound device as player of WMP, but it still doesn´t work properly...

    any more tips??

    maybe try this

How can I get multi-channel sound when playing stereo music?

The driver has been specifically designed not to process any sound that passes through it. It therefore doesn't upmix stereo sources to multiple channels by itself. For doing this, you can choose from a variety of plugins for favourite music player which give you control over the upmixing process, e.g. Foobar, Winamp, generic DirectSound.
    it's from their FAQ:

C Media already has a windows 7 drivers for this product "CMI8738 Windows 7 RC Build7100 CMI8738 BETA driver for Windows 7
You can download it from this link: C-Media Company Information

The problem is that when you use wndows media player, winamp or other program for listen multimedia files, only plays on front speakers, they also have a message in the bottom of the page: Windows 7 beta drivers do not support to record the playing digital audio (WAVE)

Somebody has any solution for listen music in all speakers??

Try seting System input to 2 CH and analog output to 6 CH in c-media control panel. Worky for me that way in all players you mentioned :)
