August 2010 Virus Bulletin Results Summary

Thanx for the info everyone
Of course McAfee would be on the list...I have 1st hand experience with that...unfortunately
I did read an interesting article a while back, if I find it, I'll post it, but apparently the "wild list" they use for determining the rankings is somewhat outdated in most cases and they are slow to add to the list the newer variants. The article said that since this list is so circulated, almost all AV companies test good since they have access to that list and results are based on that.
well, if the A/V-companies has acess to that list, then what does that change ?
if they ALL have access to the list, then of course ALL of them have the SAME chance to improve their detection...

hey hackerman1,
I wish I could find the article, I just browsed it, but basically they were saying that since the list is somewhat outdated, that the companies using that to test their software don't usually go beyond that and new variants are slow to be added. This means that once they pass the wild list test, they assume it's up to date.
It had some good points in it....
I gotta remember to bookmark stuff like that....damn ADHD
