Win 7 or Avast problem? EICAR-test

    kaspersky and eicar


    I logged into the Eicar site and tried the av amw test and kaspersky grabbed it right away now i will try it on with AVG so far so good

    Avira Antivirus picked all of them up on my machine ...

    @ENZO, if you saved the last two zip files, then right clicked on the folder to scan with Avira.... it detected them too

    That's the problem, Jacee. The file is then allready downloaded and on your HD, so if you don't have suspicion to a zip-file or a folder containing a zipfile, you will never check it. The software must detect it by itself!

    6 with Avast here , seems reasonable enough to me , but 8 would be better . So are we saying Avira is better than avast for windows 7 .

    :O are you serious?!, one thing.. will avira detect it once you open the .zip file? even if you dont scan it before hand?

Hello, I had Avast antivirus and now i want to uninstall it but when i click uninstall in Programs&Features it just doesen't do anything

I have always used the EICAR ascii string to quasi-test a/v sw, but with amble apprehention, as it is very "specific" in it's signature, leaving more fluid/dynamic scans devoid of the luxury of being broken-in or tested whatsoever, oh my! Also, with a change from AVG to Avira (thank you Jacee),...
Hi all been a while since i posted here but anyways i have a little problem or maybe not... I set my self off a virus scan using avast and all has been scanning well and almost came to the end when avast pops up with its caution virus alert Now to be clear Im running this scan from Vista...
