    See if this helps .......

    1. Download msiserver.zip and save it to Desktop.

    2. Unzip the file and extract msiserver.reg to the Desktop.
    3. Right-click msiserver.reg and choose Merge.
    4. Click Yes when asked for confirmation.
    5. Restart Windows

    WinKid,

The Windows Installer Service that came with your Windows 7 could be unregistered or damaged. For the fix, just do what Jacee said and then install Microsoft Security Essentials. Get rid of BitDefender.

The Windows Installer Service might be corrupted or damaged by malware. Please perform a FULL SCAN using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:

    • Simply download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the one of the links below.
    • Double click the downloaded file to install the application on your computer.
    • It is necessary to update before performing a scan. Make sure the last two options are ticked.
    • When the application is open, select Scan and the application will guide you through the remaining steps.

Thankfully, I stopped using NOD32 back from version 2.7. Programs that require so much effort to uninstall is a bad thing.

Do as suggested earlier, boot in safe mode with networking and install Malwarebytes and perform a full SCAN.

Chances are you got some kind of bug.
