But anyway that Emsisoft Commandline Scanner suits my needs. Does anybody know how to get it to run hidden so that they wont see the cmd boxes popping up?
    hmm.
    try putting
    Code:
    @echo off
    At the begging.

    Or
    Code:
    /?, /help
Must be used alone. Shows an overview of all available parameters.
and try looking up something like silent or hidden.

P.S.: With all respect Bigmck and Tews, using AV isn't the only way of securing one's system.
You guys act as if it is the only way and everyone must have it. There are far better ways than this outdated blacklisting technology.
Yes, this blacklisting technology suites most people, but some people can choose other ways of securing their system. Everyone has freedom of choice as far as I can remember?

Cheers for the help jav, you seem to be one of only a few people who realise that antivirus software etc can be used to backup better security solutions and not just be THE security solution.

Il look into those methods you posted for getting it to run hidden today.

While I very much agree that running an anti-virus is not the only way to secure your machine, to say that you "cant be bothered with that rubbish" is short sighted at best, and careless at worst.

This statement, when seen by an inexperienced computer user, may well discourage them from taking any pro-active measures against infestation at all...

In my almost 40 years of computer experience, I have learned, the hard way, that a layered approach to security is a must... and that includes a current up to date antivirus program...

But i cant be bothered, so why should i waist my time researching something that doesnt effect me. For example im going to assume you dont own an imac etc so do you spend your time researching about apple viruses?

Im protected against all that crap but anyway iv posted on this before - Prevention is better than Cure

While these methods are not suitable for everybody i use Greenborder and love it, however im setting up a pc for multiple users that have different requirements than me so iv given them an AV app and an anti spware app.

And if you read my post inexperienced owners would see i use a security app -

""I use an app called Greenborder that secures my pc and i install Avira Antivirus probably every 6 months, run a full scan then uninstall it. It and other antiviruses have never detected a virus, spyware etc on my pc which is why i was asking for advice on the one i would need, as i dont need to keep up to date with all this security rubbish.""

But anyway this is the last time il explain this and from now on il defend my method with the following simple line- "iv never had a virus, spyware etc on my pc, can you say the same"

    This might help.

I agree with Tews a multi layered security is absolutely necessary for today's computing. Bad things can come from other placed not just the internet. I have never used GreenBorder so I can't give you a opinion. If one choose not to use multi layer you just could be sending all your friends/customers a lot of spam ect.

To all new computer users. IMHO you should at least have Microsoft Security Essential, Malwarebytes Anti Maleware, Super Anti Spyware. Keep these programs updated along with all the other programs on your program. There is more that I use but this will give you a very good starting place.

Yeah thats the one. I absolutely hate google for buying that. In my opinion greenborder could have been an amazing security app by now, though whats really sad is that in the 3 years since it was bought up theres still nothing thats better. Die google die lol

The paid for version of Malwarebytes' Anti-malware will allow you to schedule a scanning and removal time
