    windows Defender problems

    I am running WINDOWS 7 64Bit

In windows 7, I am running Microsoft Security Essentials as antivirus.
If I understand right, windows defender is an anti spyware.
Will windows defender run in windows 7??
It is turned off, at the present time. I cannot get it to turn on.
I go to services and have to switch it FROM manual to automatic
    Click apply /ok
Control panel click on win defender and I get the defender window. then a message pop up telling windows defender is turned off click here to turn it on . I click turn on and it does not turn on Error messages pop up.
In my add/remove programs windows defender is NOT listed .
I downloaded it again, tried to install and I get a message That read

You do not need to install this software because windows Defender is included in the windows Vista. You can access windows defender from the
Security section of the windows Control Panel.

I am running win 7 so what can I do

It is included as part of MSE. Defender should be off.

+1. MSE is basically Defender with a anti-virus engine included, so it is turned off automatically.
