Norton Internet Security 2011 vs Avast! Free 5.0

Hello, which is better? Norton Internet Security 2011 or Avast! free 5.0? Which one will slow down my computer more, or has higher detection rates?

The best in the opinion of most does not even seem to be listed. Microsoft Security Essentials, gets high marks in all areas. Its free, too. It has a good malware engine and works great with the Windows Fire Wall.

I would advise you to use MSE with Spyware Blaster (be sure to update it and click on "enable all protection") SpywareBlaster® | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download.
and Malwarebytes' (free to run whenever you want to)Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes
These anti-malware applications are all free.

    no, Outpost-FREE is NOT W7-compatible !
    only the paid versions are.

    "System Requirements:
    Windows 2000/XP/Vista
    500 MHz or faster
    30 Mb HardDisk
    256 Mb RAM
    "
although you CAN use it on W7....
i discovered how to install it when i was using W7-beta:
How to make outpost firewall (free) work in w7 !

anyway, OnlineArmor is a MUCH better firewall, you can get the FREE version here:
Best Free Firewall Software - Download Online Armor Free Personal Firewall - Get it Now

EAM (previously named a-squared) has better detection-rate then MBAM,
i suggest using both MBAM & EAM.

EAM: Emsisoft Anti-Malware - Best protection against Viruses, Trojan Horses, Spyware, Worms, Dialers, Adware, Keyloggers and Rootkits

you can use the full version for 33 days, then it turns into the FREE version.
