Desktop icons and menu bar disappeared: caused by trojans?

    Hello,

Whenever I leave my computer for a determined amount of time inactive, the desktop icons disappear as well as the menu bar, leaving only the background visible. Wait a while longer and it turns black with only the mouse arrow visible. I have Kaspersky make a partially-completed scan (partial completed because I left my computer and the black screen appeared and had to reboot) and it found 3 trojans that were eliminated by the Internet suite program. The trojans were located in Windows.old folder.
    -Trojan program Exploit.Java.CVE-2010-0094.a
    -Trojan program Trojan-Downloader.JS.Agent.fns
    -Trojan program Exploit.Java.CVE-2010-0094.a

I also scanned by computer with Malwarebytes which found nothing. I was wondering if my problem might be caused by viruses/trojans/rootkits. This problem first occured on the first day I installed Windows 7 replacing Windows Vista.

I was directed here from the Crashes and Debugging subforum by richc46.

    Can assist me with this?

    Thank you,

    Dave

My concern is that after the infections that were removed and the problems that currently exist, there may be some hidden infection that has not been detected. If nothing is found packrat will be helped in crashes. Good luck Packrat.

try to scan your pc with Hitman Pro to see if it catches more things that kaspersky and mbam missed.

    Deleted Java and reinstalled
Used Hitman Pro, it only found 4 tracking cookies.

If no traces of Virus or Trojan, try disabling the startup programs using MSCONFIG.

After installing Windows 7 over Windows Vista, I installed Firefox again and some windows updates. I deleted Windows.old and windows.old.000 and scanning again with Kaspersky. Also experienced freezing twice on my computer shortly after arriving to the desktop. --; Thought I solved that by updating the softwares in Device Manager.

May I suggest running hijack this and upload the results in a .txt document so i can look at it? Feel free to read over it and remove any personal information that may be lurking in there.

prabz: I wouldn't know where to begin with your suggestion since I am not exactly computer literate.

    Here is my HijackThis log:

I recommend scanning with Spyware Doctor, it is great.
