The new Kapersky Internet Security 2011 has worked out quite well so far - now I would recommend it for new Win 7 systems.

I have installed and used zonealarm on many of my and friends systems (mostly xp) for years. But since I switched to Win7 x64 Ultimate I had several BSODs especially with streaming software like veetle and some games. No probs with commodo there...

I found AVG slowed the machine up when it was installed due to the file monitoring so I moved to Avast(free) + Comodo and Malwarebytes. Have been using Comodo since xp days and never had a problem with it. Just my 2 cents worth

I would stay away from Zone Alarm, it has been the cause of many BSODs.
I wasn't aware of that.. guess software does change for the worse though (McrApafreeze for example).. used zonealarm until about a year and a half ago without any problems
Lol, this reminds me of when I worked building and selling PC's, and we referred to it as Mcrapee

I stumbled upon Comodo a few years ago, decided to try it, and now it's what I recommend when asked.

Not to interject a dumb question, but what's wrong with the built-in MS firewall in Windows 7 HP x64? And if Comodo is better, what makes it so? Thanks.

Personally, I find Comodo to be much more user friendly, more tailored to individual needs, and I think it works better.

I won't discourage using windows firewall, but if you do more than everyday browsing at safe site I would recommend something a little tighter. I guess I cannot speak for the W7 firewall, though, as I haven't given it a chance.

A lot of security measures also come down to personal taste, since there are several available on the market.

If you configure it correctly its great and by that I mean both system and firewall.
