uninstall mcafee

Of recent, I would not recommend McAfee as I found that when you try to uninstall it from your system, sometimes it does not uninstall cleanly.

I found this out when I tried using one of the programs that uses vbscripting to do certain things and causing errors where it would intercept vbscript engine calls, and cause error because it redirected most vbscript calls to its dll. Which is good, if it was installed, but when uninstalled, it didn't clean up its changes and caused problems.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with your post. Did you try to uninstall McAfee using the McAfee uninstall tool? Or did you try to install it with the Windows uninstaller? For anti-malware programs and firewalls, it is usually best to the uninstall tool from the company that created the software.

Well, I actually spent like 3 days trying to figure out why my program was working fine on one Windows 7 computer (Ultimate x64) and not on a new laptop (Dell Inspirion 17R with Win 7 Home Premium). It wasn't until I did some more fishing around to find out that it may have been related to McAfee and someone suggested using the removal tool to take care of it. The real problem was mostly barking up the wrong tree trying to figure out why the program was having problems and nothing conclusive until I started looking at possible anti-virus blocking scripting engines and finding an obscure reference to it.

Actually, more of a reference to Pre-installed software, as it was a Dell Laptop recently purchased and I uninstalled it and installed MSE mostly cause I didn't want to deal with Trialware McAfee and I messed it up that I couldn't get it to start the trialware period that I didn't want to deal with it.
