Ciorrine answers 1) Because Firefox is showing "Not Responding" does not mean it is the fault of AVG. Do you get "Not Responding" with Internet Explorer? no

2) In the thread at browsers and Windows 7 Not Responding, when asked what your browser is, you responded, "BugMeister Firefox". Thus, I asked what is BugMeister Firefox it was not my thread. I do not know "BugMeister Firefox

3) thanks

4) The next time you get "Not Responding", launch Task Manger and select the Processes Tab. What does the "Memory (Private Working Set)" show for Firefox? memory good

205K for Firefox? That is extremely low. Were there any tabs open then?

The first thing I suggest is to surf in Safe Mode, open tabs, go to sites you normally visit, just do "normal" things and see if you get the "Not Responding". If you do not have the problem in Safe Mode, then I suggest it is an extension you have installed. See these instructions for Safe Mode. Just click the "
Continue In Safe Mode"
button without checking any of the boxes.

If, while in Safe Mode, you still get the "Not Responding", you may have a bad installation of Firefox or a problem with your profile. In that case, you may want to proceed with trying a new Firefox profile as you suggested in the other topic.

There is too much information for me to provide all the steps here but Mozilla has the information nicely documented. Please see the links below.

1) Backing up your information
2) Creating a Profile
3) Copying files between profile folders

Hi, brightsun.

Since you get "Not Responding" in Firefox Safe Mode, it sounds like there is a problem either with your profile or the actual Firefox installation. If you had the same problem with Internet Explorer, I would attribute it to another software interference. That not being the case, I suggest you follow the steps I provided above for creating a new Firefox profile.

Hi, brightsun.

That is a completely different situation, and certainly not attributable to either Firefox or AVG. I can only take you so far with this and then a hardware expert will need to take over. However, let's get some basics down.

It is important that you respond to each question and follow each set of instructions in the order provided.

EDIT NOTE:

I just learned that again there is a serious problem with LinkScanner component. Technically, it is a form of HTTP hammering with the impact depending on how many users with AVG 2011 access a particular site. That aside, as suggested by Softpedia, browsers will open tens or hundreds of connections in the background and will become unresponsive.

As a result of the above information, if you have AVG 2011 and LinkScanner installed on your computer, stop at this point and go back up to my earlier instructions and proceed with removing AVG installing MSE.

Please confirm when you have removed AVG and installed MSE.

(Previous instructions removed in lieu of the newly learned information regarding LinkScanner.)
