UAC Do Not Work
A recent disk check on my computer came back with 4 bad sectors. After that, every time I tried to do anything with user account controls (ie. anything with that blue and yellow shield next to it) it brings up the error
"The endpoint mapper database entry could not be created."
This includes things like system restore and running programs as administrators. Furthermore, every time I put in my Windows 7 boot disk, my computer shuts itself off right before it finishes loading files.
I'm pretty sure the registry is screwed up, and I have a backup of the registry before all this started happening, but I can't merge it because that requires UAC permission and that error shows up.
I may end up having to reformat the disk, but I want to make sure that I have no other options before I do so.
Is there any way I can turn off UAC without doing anything that requires UAC?
