Stand alone MBAM update?

I am trying to get a friends computer connected to the internet at school. We have to ran a program called Cisco NAC Agent. It would not recognize her old AV as an AV. I installed MSE 2.0 Beta (I gave her the choice and she really wanted the beta version), but it will not recognize MSE either. I realized that on my computer it lets me logon because of MBAM, but I have to update it before it will let me logon to the network. Is there a way to copy the virus definitions from one computer to another? or do some other kind of stand-alone update?

You're welcome. (Note that the address to directly download updates changes periodically. So, if you have a problem in the future, that would be the explanation.)

Did MalwareBytes ever come up with a version that I can put on a system repair disc, a WinRE, or simply on a stick or a CD?

Hi, Karl.

Not that I am aware of. However, there are many situations when helping users when they are unable to connect the infected machine to the internet. In that case, they are instructed to download the MBAM installer and transport it to the infected machine. With some infections, it is necessary to rename mbam.exe to explorer.exe.

Since the definitions are updated frequently, it would be best to have the most recent on hand anyway.

Thanks for the info. That's a real pity, since there is a handful of AV programs which I can download as ISO and put either onto a CD or a USB.

I'd like to be able to do the same thing with MBAM. If I have it on a stick, then I can periodically update the database by manually downloaded the latest database.

True is that most of the cd/usb av runs under a Linux OS.

Since the System Repair Disc is a WinRE with a menu and putting that onto a USB stick is easy (I've got one.), then I'd like to be able to put MBAM on the stick. Haven't really tried it. The RE creates its own registry and doesn't alter the user's registry.

Oh well, I'll just live with it. Thanks.
